Ana's Story

Anastasia Maeve was born on March 2nd, 2013 at 37 weeks. She weighed 5lbs 11oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. She was beautiful. I had an uneventful, healthy pregnancy. At a routine OB appointment on March 1st, our doctor couldn't find Ana's heartbeat. An ultrasound confirmed that our daughter had passed away. The next day I was induced and after pushing for 24 minutes, I gave birth to our beautiful baby girl. We had wonderful nurses, who treated Ana like any other newborn. They were gentle and sweet, and took very good care of my husband and I, our daughter and our families. The whole process was a blur. 24 hours after finding out our Daughter had passed, I was getting ready to push. My body was already prepping for labor. She had dropped, and I was dialated 3cm before getting to the hospital. After breaking my water, things progressed quickly. I was settled into the hospital by 8am, and Ana was born at 2:24pm.

We were able to hold her, and she spent the night with us. Our nurse took the pictures you see here of Ana. She was amazing, and we cherish these pictures despite not being sure at first if we wanted them.

Our lives have been forever changed. We returned home to an empty nursery and empty arms. Our family and friends were supportive, but nothing could ease the pain of losing our child.  I love my daughter more than life itself. Even though she died, I wouldn't take back my pregnancy with her. I had 9 wonderful months with my daughter, loving her, and growing together.
